Join the Carnation Chamber

Carnation Chamber of Commerce goals for the past two years have been to rebuild the organization and improve communication with City Hall and our neighboring communities.  Now we are heading into 2009 with financial, structural and creative strength. Here are some of things we accomplished:  

• Rebuilt our membership to record highs; opened membership to residents and revised fees and benefits.
• Rebuilt the organization’s structure:  utilized a Board of Directors, developed a budget and created sub-committees.  The work is now spread more widely making it easier for volunteers to get involved as their time allows.
• Revised our by-laws.
• Established an annual retreat and an annual meeting which provides an opportunity for our membership to get an overview on the work of the chamber; weigh in on critical issues affecting their businesses and shape the goals for the Chamber.
• Participated in developing the first Economic Development Plan for the City of Carnation
• Coordinated with the Duvall Chamber of Commerce to produce a joint Chamber Directory as a benefit for our members.
• Created the Business Liaison Team to provide support to new and existing businesses with their permitting and development projects and to liaise with the City on development code changes and implementation. 
• We now work regularly with City Staff on issues facing the community.
• Established regular meetings with the City Council.
• Finally, on an informal basis, the relationships between business owners are building and will continue as the Chamber continues to grow.

Chamber and Carnation Businesses Get Togethers are now the Third Monday of each month at 7:00Pm at Lazy K's.  Enjoy hanging out with other business owners for networking, gossip and to learn from the professionals that present during the program part of the meeting.  There are also scheduled "Nites Out" at members' businesses in the evenings.

Big thank you to the past Board of Directors: Lee Grumman, Grace Fratzke, Kim Lisk, Allen & Cheryl Burris, Kirsten Burt and Dianne Hurt for helping to move the Chamber to where we are today.  Board of Directors for 2009-2010 are Kirsten Burt, Allen Burris, Cheryl Burris, Grace Fratzke, LeAnn Shaw and Kim Lisk.   

We are a small community with a lot of talent.  That makes it easy to imagine the best and to realize it.  As we head into 2009 our organizational strength now makes it possible to begin to work more directly on bringing visitors to town:  marketing, community events and business promotions.  We look forward to this work and highly recommend you join us in creating a thriving, fun, unique business district.
